Seniors / Social Groups

We find that senior guests and social groups love visiting the farm because it reminds them of a world rapidly disappearing - especially close to city areas. For many, the current groundswell of interest in organics, home gardening and wholesome food is a welcome return to some good old-fashioned and common sense values.

Whether you are new to the world of organics or are a practicing old-hand to whom it is all now 'second nature', a tour of the farm will be an enjoyable experience.
The Second Nature Organics tours offer guests an opportunity to simply participate in an easy-paced guided walking tour or, for the more active, to also get hands on in some gardening activities and learning new techniques. Guests also have the option of picking fresh farm produce and participating in cooking outdoor lunches e.g. 'making your own pizza topping' to be cooked in our wood-fired oven.
The tour will provide a chance to gain a broad understanding of organic food production including:.
• organics and permaculture based production systems and how these differ from conventional and / or hydroponic food production processes
• global trends in organics and what is driving consumer demand e.g.:
o taste
o health
o environment
o global warming
o food miles – increasing preference for fresh and local produce
• understanding food nutrition and the impacts of various production methodologies on food nutrition and quality
• introduction to Australian bush foods.
We appreciate that many of our guests have a lot of knowledge of gardening and organics and we encourage discussion and sharing of ideas and information - for life we learn!
